meet the
a & the c

Ashlee and Cary have been friends since 2000, when they first met in Los Angeles dancing with Myo, a contemporary ballet company directed by Josie Walsh.  Years later they found themselves dancing again but this time with more questions around “what makes dance great”.

They began exploring what keeps an audience mesmerized by a specific dancer, whether on stage or in class.  The true draw is the dancer’s own personal story, emotions, and commitment that was embodied in the choreography and projected into the room, not just the technique and steps themselves.  Ashlee and Cary realized they could bring their holistic philosophy and professional expertise to dancers willing to tap into this deeper connection - no matter their level, ability or age.

And thus began The AC Experience: learning to dance from the inside out.

Ashlee Cinco began her dance training on the Central Coast of California. She moved to Los Angeles after earning her Bachelor’s degree from University of California Santa Barbara.

Ashlee danced professionally (contemporary, ballet, jazz & aerial arts) with MYO, a dance company in Los Angeles for over 10 years - traveling and also performing for Red Bull, Jetta, and MTV.

Currently, Ashlee performs with and choreographs for North County San Diego based Bella Lux Entertainment, while also teaching a number of classes at MBDY+Be Studio: Contemporary Ballet, Heels, and Barre-lates.

Ashlee holds certifications in both Pilates (since 2003) and GYROTONIC® Expansion System (since 2007), and focuses applying principles from both to help build strength and flexibility in her clients and students.

Ashlee strives to build a synchronicity between movement and breath, to solidify the mind, body, and spirit connection. This holistic philosophy is the foundation of her contributions to The AC Experience.

Cary Barberich began her professional dance career with The Rebecca Kelly Ballet while earning her BFA at NYU Tisch School of the Arts for Acting.  She continued to dance with the Charleston Ballet Theatre, performing works such as Romeo & Juliet, Rite of Spring, and was featured in David Parsons’ The Envelope.

Other performances include The Nutcracker’s “Sugar Rum Sherry” with The National Ballet in Washington DC, a featured dancer in The Radio City Christmas Spectacular in Chicago, and a dancer in The King and I with the California Music Circus in Sacramento.

In 2007, Cary graduated from Columbia University with her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.  She has worked with both the neurological and orthopedic population and currently owns a private practice that specializes on both Pelvic Floor health and dancer rehab.

Cary’s holistic approach to physical therapy practice uses Inner Alignment practices and meditation, as each person is looked at as a mind, body and spirit.  This Inner Alignment work is also used in the ac experience workshops as a technique for getting dancers into their bodies and feeling their emotions as physical vibrations.

Cary is a certified Coach in Inner Alignment and a Level 3 Soul Retrieval Healer.  Cary is proud to be dancing and choreographing with Bella Lux Entertainment.
